An English walnut marquetry bureau plat sold for its upper estimate of £3,000 at an auction conducted by Morgan O'Driscoll in Bantry House, Co Cork, last month. Among the other items that made especially good prices was a Regency rosewood artist's work table (£1,300), a bronze figure of a seated winged putto (£1,000) and a Regency four piece tea service (£1,000). An 18th century marquetry on walnut nightstand fetched £900, while both a pair of painted Louis XVI style fauteuil a la reine and a Chippendale style double scroll end sofa made £800.
