We’re big fans of Derry’s annual Celtronic festival for many reasons. Not only does it bring some of the biggest names in electronic music to the northwest for some hedonistic hooleys, but in its 11 years the festival has a commendable track record regarding local talent. Whether it’s as support to the main draws (Psycatron supporting Planet E boss Carl Craig on Friday night, for instance, or Boxcutter playing alongside Luke Vibert on Saturday) or finely curated showcases for local bleep- makers (see the Saturday line-up at Mason’s), there’s always room on the bill for inspiring local talent.
The big draws this time out are probably Craig, German shoegazelectronica dude Ulrich Schnaus and regular Celtronic visitor Tom Middleton, who closes the festival on Sunday at Sandino’s with support from ex-Aeroplane man The Magician. Time to hit the northwest.
