Noelle Campbell Sharpe started collecting Napoleon memorabilia when I was very young. My favourite item is Napoleon's own copy of Voltaire's Zaire,
It has the imperial leather embossed cover, and it's reputed to have been in his library in St Helena. I have a collection of letters that belonged to Napoleon's mother, which is very interesting. I beat four museums in the world in acquiring them. They cost several thousand at the time. There's a priceless element to them now.
I'm able to recognise the turkeys. Once you have collected from all over the world, you don't get fooled that easily.
My best bargan is a set of toy soldiers of Napoleon's Irish regiment made for me by a man in Eze village in the south of France. Even the unmounted soldiers, which cost between £200 and £300, were a bargain because they are painted so beautifully.
