The Latvian National Opera company is bringing its production of Puccini's Turandot to Ireland for October performances at the Cork Opera House (Sunday 4th and Monday 5th) and University Concert Hall, Limerick (Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th). UCH is organising an "Operatic/Cultural 24-hour Visit to Limerick" taking in the opera, all travel, meals, and visits to the Hunt Museum and King John's Castle for £125. French pianist Philippe Cassard celebrates the tenth anniversary of his success at the Dublin International Piano Competition by performing the complete solo piano music of his countryman, Debussy, in a single day at the National Gallery on Sunday, October 11th. The unusual undertaking, which he has already presented in Paris and London, is broken into four recitals (11.30am, 2.30pm, 5.30pm and 8pm) and an all-day ticket can be had for £28. The ESB Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, to be held next January with a top prize of £10,000, is now open to singers of all nationalities.
