Lassie, Charles Sturridge's new movie featuring the much-filmed collie, is set for a speedy release at Irish cinemas.

The production, which has moved from Irish locations to the Isle of Man, continues shooting until mid-July, but Abbey Films will open it here as early as December 16th. The human cast includes Peter O'Toole, Samantha Morton and Peter Dinklage. However, Lassie faces formidable competition at the box-office from a bigger furry creature on the same release date, when it will be up against Peter Jackson's new version of King Kong.
