In a letter from Flann O Riain headed "RTE Accents, Then And Now", published on September 19th, a sentence beginning, "Has the Minister now read the frequent letters to you, Sir. . ." ought to have read: "Has Ms Minihan not read [etc]".
The appreciation of the late Dr Noel Nowlan in the editions of September 5th said the Nuclear Energy Board, the forerunner of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland, was established "with statutory responsibility for commissioning and operating the nuclear station [at Carnsore]". This should have read "with statutory responsible for regulating the commissioning and operation of the nuclear station". The error occurred in the editing process.
In yesterday's E & L supplement, a report on a draft study on non-completion rates in institutes of technology said it had shown that Waterford IT and Carlow IT had the best retention rates in the sector. In fact, it was Cork IT, not Carlow IT, which had more than 67 per cent of students completing their courses on time.
In an article headed "For Schubert's sake" in yesterday's Arts page, the pianist referred to was Graham Johnson, not Graham Parsons as he was called in several places.
