Mr Ian Hay Gordon was misquoted in a feature article on the campaign to clear his name in the editions of January 11th. He was convicted in 1953 of the murder of the daughter of a former Northern Ireland attorney general. In a reference to his interrogation by the police, Mr Gordon did not say to the reporter: "They told me they'd kill my mother". He said: "They told me the shock would kill my mother". The Irish Times apologises to Mr Gordon for this error.

In the report on the Irish Times/ ESB Theatre Awards in yesterday's editions, a quote by playwright Marie Jones was incorrectly attributed to Sorcha Cusack. Stones in his Pockets, by Marie Jones, at the Belfast Lyric Theatre won the award for best production and was accepted by Ian McElhinney, Ms Jones's husband, who directed the show.

A report in yesterday's editions incorrectly named Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, as the parish where a priest accused of alleged sex offences in London had been working. The priest had, in fact, been working part-time in the nearby parish of Glounthaune, which is in a different diocese, until his departure before Christmas. The error is regretted.
