In a report headed "Clare protesters move to smoke out incinerator plan" in yesterday's editions, Ms Caroline Monahan was quoted as saying people and animals had become ill near a Syntex incinerator at Times Beach, Missouri, in the United States. In fact, Ms Monahan made no reference to a Syntex incinerator at that location. She spoke in general about dioxins and cited Times Beach as an area that had been contaminated by dioxins from chemical waste and people had to be evacuated as a result.
