THE strong presence of both private and trade purchasers yielded competitive prices at last Tuesday's auction on the premises of Thomas Adams & Co in Blackrock, Co Dublin. For example, an Edwardian mahogany serpentine display cabinet sold for £2,800 and £2,500 was achieved for an Irish mid 18th century mahogany longcase clock by John Dalton of Dublin.

The other top prices included £1,400 for an Edwardian inlaid, mahogany three piece bedroom suite, £1,200 for a mahogany slopefront bureau bookcase from the same period, £970 for an Edwardian mahogany ninedrawer pedestal desk, £850 for a mid Victorian circular mahogany dining table and £820 for an Edwardian arch top gilt overmantle.
