It's under way: 50,000 people have arrived at Electric Picnic for the year's best music and arts festival, in Stradbally, Co Laois. If they pitched their tents in time they'll have been able to catch the first acts of the festival – today's line-up includes Ash, Chvrches and, in what should be an unmissable headline slot, Kendrick Lamar.

The Irish Times will be reviewing gigs and reporting from the festival all weekend – you'll find all our coverage here – and if you'd like to contribute, too, send us your best photograph and you could win a €200 Tesco voucher. You can enter here.

Here’s our own take on how the festival has been taking shape today.
