The latest releases reviewed.
Alfred Darlington strikes gold with his 10 full-length electronic excavations. Previous releases saw Daedelus pushing boundaries as only a man dressed in Victorian garb could do. This behaviour, while commendable, didn't always produce tracks that bore repeat listening. But Love to Make Music Tohits a spot where the Californian producer's experimentation uncovers a bevy of sunny-side-up results. From the opening track, the bright, breezy, giddy romp of Fair Weather Friend, Daedelus uncorks one shining groove after another. Tracks are colourful and rounded, gaining greatly from his willingness to dabble in styles from r'n'b (the shiny brush of My Beau) to hip-hop ( Twist the Kids, with help from Aussie rhymer N'fa).
