SILICONE SOUL
Staring Into Space Soma
***
It's all about the production values, stupid. Dance music may be, as always, in the throes of an identity crisis, but the likes of Silicone Soul continue to produce albums which purr with contentment. All those adjectives we like to toss around with wild abandon - you know: deep, emotive, funky, chunky, psychedelic, spacious, progressive, rich, contemporary - will be hauled out again to describe the music which Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie fashion. A little house, a little electronic and even a little jazz in places, it's a stylish smorgasbord that delivers music with mood swings. Comparisons don't help (for every jazzanova lick, there's a Jean Michel Jarre soundscape to sink into) so just let the acid lash of Under a Werewolf Moon or the over-polished Feeling Blue whisk you away to the nearest furniture store. www.somarecords.com
