DWIGHT TRIBLE & THE LIFE FORCE TRIO Love Is the Answer Ninja Tune ***
Longstanding jazz radical Dwight Trible worked with the likes of Charles Lloyd, Pharaoah Sanders and Harry Belafonte in times past, but Love Is the Answer may top much of what he's done during his lengthy career for sheer psychedelic, shamanistic, freestyle soul and pizzazz. A bright shower of LA-based players and beatmasters, including such luminaries as Jay-Dee and Madlib, came onboard to lend a hand. What has emerged from these sessions is a record as spiritually high as it is sonically deep. Working off a barrage of riffs and hooks, from the timeless call of A Love Supreme to the oddball, scattergun malarkey of Waves of Infinite Harmony, Trible and his gang have conjured up a record which is all the stronger for the strangeness of its foundations. The more you listen, the more you find and the more you want to go back to the beginning. www.ninjatune.net
