FONTAN
Winterwila
Information
****
Like label bosses Studio, Fontän are another Swedish duo with the hots for widescreen melodies and grooves. While the connections between the two acts run deep – Studio’s Rasmus Hagg gets a credit for supervising Winterhwila, for instance – this is not simply a two-Swede-duos-for-the-price-of-one deal. Having earned their stripes working with or remixing Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar, Metronomy and others, Fontän’s Johan Melin and Jesper Jarold can be found nodding their heads at the crossroads where cosmic psychedelica, slow-mo disco and proggy indie meet. Their second album, which began life in Jarold’s grandmother’s shed, is a truly headspinning, expansive, sunkissed excursion with blissed-out, spacey sounds coming at the listener from every side. Tracks such as Neaderthaler and Early Morning are particularly delightful as the band set their musical guns to stun. www.myspace.com/fntn
