THIS painting of flowers in a blue vase (circa 1950) by Dan O'Neill is one of three floral pictures by this artist included in the Irish art auction being held by John Ross & Co on the company's Belfast premises on Wednesday, June 5th. Showing a vase of blooms against a backdrop of the Cavehill, the picture was given by O'Neill to his friend and model Sheilagh Deacon it is expected to flake £2,000-£3,000. Another O'Neill work, an oil head study on canvas, will probably make the day's top price as it carries a pre-sale estimate of £5,000- £6,000. One of Frank McKelvey's pictures is estimated at £3,000-£5,000.

Also included in Ross's auction is a large canvas by George Campbell, painted in 1944 and called The Belfast Blitz. Returned to Ireland from Oklahoma, the picture (estimated at £2,500-£3,500) shows High Street after the blitz, with the Albert Clock in the distance. In addition, there are a number of works by Percy French, William Conor, Gerard Dillon, Maurice C. Wilks, Colin Middleton and Frank Egginton.
