Aged 35, second generation Irishman David Arnold has written the scores for Young Americans, the Roland Emmerich-directed Stargate and Independence Day (for which he won a Grammy) and the forthcoming James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies. His next film soundtrack is for the new Roland Emmerich film, Godzilla, starring Jean Reno and Matthew Broderick. Arnold also plans to work with Belfast DJ David Holmes on an as-yet-unspecified project.

Currently residing in the UK Top Ten Albums chart, Arnold's Shaken & Stirred (East West), is an excellent compilation of theme songs from 11 James Bond movies. Acts on the record include Pulp, Iggy Pop, Aimee Mann, Leftfield, Shara Nelson, David McAlmont, Chrissie Hynde, and LTJ Bukem.
