The standard of the entries in our film-reviewing competition was extremely high, and picking winners was difficult. However, the best of the bunch were the reviews of Gone with the Wind Barbara Keane of Loreto College, Crumlin, Dublin; of Blade Runner John Kennedy of St Benildus College, Upper Kilmacud Road, Dublin; and of Dancing at Lughnasa Ciaran O'Rourke of Gonzaga College in Dublin. They've all won a week's work placement in The Irish Times

and tickets for a class group to the Film Institute of Ireland's screening on Thursday week of Edward Scissorhands in the Ormonde Cinema, Stillorgan, Dublin. Their reviews will be published next Wednesday.

Special mention also goes to teacher Louise Morrissey's Transition Year students at Portmarnock Community School, Co Dublin, who sent a remarkable bundle of reviews of Saving Private Ryan , which testified to the film's powerful anti-war impact on this group of teenagers.
