Even given the effects of inflation, it remains somewhat surprising that the picture made more than Annie Hall, Manhattanor Crimes and Misdemeanours. So, all eyes are on his current production in Rome.

Mindful of his newly refreshed popularity, Allen has announced that the film, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page and Penélope Cruz, is no longer called The Decameron Bop. "I couldn't believe how few people had heard of The Decameron even in Rome," he mused. "And the few who had assumed the movie was based on Boccaccio's tales, which it's not."

The film will now be called Nero Fiddled. You do know who Nero was, don't you?
