Can it already be time for news about the Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off on May 16th? So it seems. The organisers have announced that the jury for this year's event (the 65th) will be headed by admired Italian director Nanni Moretti. Astonishingly, it seems that Moretti, who won the Palme d'Or for The Son's Roomin 2001, has been competing at Cannes for 34 years.
The festival’s president, Gilles Jacob, explains: “When we decided to put Ecce Bombo – a super 8 film! – into competition when I first arrived in 1978, it was because I had a premonition that Nanni Moretti would soon become NANNI MORETTI. This is what happened and I am so gratified to have had this long and affectionate collaboration.”
