Dalle to rekindle a million old flames

This year’s French Film Festival at the Irish Film Institute features a more than usually starry list of attendees. Thoughts will turn to a million student posters of the 1980s when Béatrice Dalle turns up for Bye Bye Blondie, her new picture, and for a disinterment of the iconic Betty Blue. Further dazzle comes with the arrival of the great Juliet Binoche for Sylvie Testud’s Another Woman’s Life.

The festival also finds space for a screening of the latest from Alain Resnais, You Ain’t seen Nothin’ Yet, and Michael Haneke’s untouchable Amour, winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes this year. That film was co-produced by Les Films du Losange, founded in 1962 by Barbet Schroeder and Éric Rohmer, and the festival will be celebrating 50 years of that innovative company. ifi.ie/frenchfest
