Ruth Negga, the talented Irish actor, has been cast in Steve McQueen’s much anticipated Twelve Years a Slave.
The director’s follow-up to Shame concerns a freeman who is kidnapped and sold into slavery during the 19th century. Chiwetel Ejiofor and (of course) Michael Fassbender are already on board. Rumours abound that Brad Pitt, a producer on the project, will also take a role.
Due for release next year, Twelve Years a Slave really threatens to propel McQueen into the mainstream.
