The Church of Scientology, whose influence in Hollywood has long been a matter of record, has purchased an iconic property on Sunset Boulevard. The site, which has functioned as a studio since 1912, was once home to productions from Monogram Pictures and United Artists. The church will use it to produce videos.
"It is a perfect fit, in both size and location, for the expansion of the Church of Scientology's production of religious and social betterment audiovisual properties, and we welcomed the unexpected opportunity to acquire it," a representative said.
