You will have read reports on the Galway Film Fleadh, which ended last Sunday, elsewhere in this newspaper. Alas, space prohibited us mentioning the winning short films in the print edition. Allow us to partially address that omission by congratulating Andrew Legge, whose The Girl With the Mechanical Maiden picked up the Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Drama. Alan Travers’s Stop Motion Biscuit Cake won the 30-Minute Film Festival gong. Conor Finnegan’s Fear of Flying received the James Horgan Award for Best Animation in association with Telegael.

A complete list of the winning shorts can be found at the Screenwriter blog: irishtimes.com/blogs/ screenwriter.
