BEST Property Services of Newry, Co Down, are conducting a house contents auction next Tuesday in the town at Belmont, Downshire Road. This mid 19th century house has been the home of the Tilford family since the 1930s, including recently deceased solicitor William Telford.
The house holds a number of fine pieces of 18th century furniture, including a George III mahogany breakfront bookcase, estimated at £2,000-£2,500. Also in this sale, and dating from the same period, are a mahogany side table (estimate £1,500-£2,000), an Irish inlaid mahogany sideboard backed with brass rail (£6,000-£7,000), a dining table, its top inlaid with string decoration (£4,000-£5,000), and a set of eight dining chairs (£4,000).
