An early version of Goethe's Faust (Urfaust, from 1775) newly translated - and read - by Dan Farrelly, Director of UCD's Drama Studies Centre, is one of the more intriguing items on the programme of this weekend's Poetry Now '99 festival, which begins tomorrow under the glass expanses of Dun Laoghaire's County Hall. Readings by Francis Stuart, Cathal O Searcaigh, Anthony Cronin, Gerald Dawe, Aidan Carl Mathews, Brendan Kennelly and Rita Ann Higgins will be interpersed with performances of new music composed by musicians in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown borough, under the direction of composer-in-residence, Stephen Gardner. An anthology of children's poems, Something To Shout About, published by Kids' Own Publishing Partnership, will be launched on Saturday at 11 a.m. Further information and festival programme from 01-2054749.
