Marquetry card table among Mullen's's lots

Mullen's of Laurel Park will be holding a two-part auction next Monday with a total of some 800 lots. The wide range of items run from a set of 12 mahogany dining chairs, circa 1900 (estimate £3,000-£5,000), to a Dutch marquetry card-table (£500-£600). Other lots likely to be of particular interest to bidders are a Victorian mahogany sofa (£1,000-£1,500), a Georgian mahogany sideboard (£2,200-£2,800) and a Victorian rosewood library table (£1,200-£1,600). The two sections of this sale start at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

Selling contents of an `Aladdin's Cave'

Malahide's Denis Drum is selling the contents of "an Aladdin's cave of a house" on his premises next Thursday at 7 p.m. A large Victorian property, Catkin in Sutton, Co Dublin, has a number of fine pieces, such as a large mahogany D-end dining table, which seats up to 14 persons. It is expected to sell for £3,000-£4,000, while a Georgian oak long-case clock with brass face by Francis Kerr of Monaghan has a relatively low estimate of £500-£1,000. Another item of furniture is a Victorian mahogany chiffonier (£1,000-£1,500) and among the pictures are Fergus O'Ryan's The Glen, Powerscourt from about 1948 (£1,000-£1,500) and Eric Patton's Flowers (£600-1,000).

Big collection of antique jewellery at Blackrock

A large collection of antique jewellery from one source is included in next Tuesday's two-part auction at the Adams salerooms in Blackrock, Dublin. Among the finer pieces are a Victorian five-stone diamond ring (estimate £1,800-£2,000), and from the same period a Victorian pearl and diamond double-scroll bangle (£900-£1,200) and a diamond-set bangle (£800-£1,200).

Furniture includes an early 20th century set of 10 Hepplewhite-style mahogany dining-chairs (£5,000-£6,000) and a pair of stamped and numbered Victorian library chairs made by Kerr & Sons (£6,000-£6,500).

Also in this sale are a large number of lots of interest to restorers, not least of which are collections of Regency and Victorian and Edwardian brass and gilt metal fittings.

Wicklow cottage contents sale has about 200 lots

Rameses Fine Art of Enniskerry will be auctioning the entire contents of Rose Cottage in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow, next Monday from noon. Some 200 lots are included in the sale, such as a number of items of Edwardian furniture, together with a George IIIstyle mahogany chest of drawers and mahogany side-table, a late 19th century pencil sketch of Kilcoole railway station by Alexander Williams R.H.A. and an oil of a girl stacking turf by Norman McCraig.

Hepplewhite chairs for £3,500 or more

Town & Country auctioneers will hold a house-contents auction tomorrow in Killiney, Dublin, where a set of 12 19th century Hepplewhite dining-chairs is expected to sell for £3,500-£4,500 and a side-table made by James Hicks has an estimate of £4,000-£5,000. The latter price is also the estimate for a Victorian walnut breakfront credenza, while a Victorian mahogany partner's desk carries a pre-sale figure of £2,000-£2,500 and a Victorian mahogany diningtable £1,800-£2,200.
