Friday: Sam Amidon, Dave Harrington, Art Source and more

FOLK/ROOTS
Sam Amidon
Whelan's, Dublin 8pm €18 whelanslive.com

Cracking US folk revisionist Amidon (above) plugs his latest album, Lily-O, whereon he delivers authentic and intriguing rearranged versions of arcane folk tunes. Genre lovers won't want to miss this one.

ART
Art Source
RDS Main Hall, Ballsbridge €10/ €8 (free under 16) Until Nov 16 artsource.ie

There are galleries in Art Source, but most of the exhibitors are individual artists presenting their own work. Included are figures with impressive track records, from Daragh Muldowney of Dúlra Photography to painters Gerard McGourty and Willie Redmond. Galleries include Gormleys Fine Art, the Sol, Zozimus and Balla Bán. There's also a children's workshop and other events.

HIP-HOP
Chali 2NA
Sugar Club, Dublin 8pm €17.50 chali2na.com

Back in the summer, Chali 2NA rocked into Dublin with his Jurassic 5 bandmates and put on one of the shows of the year at Vicar Street. He's back in town tonight with his own band, playing tunes from his album Manphibian Music, along with, we reckon, classic J5 cuts. Later, Stones Throw and Beat Junkies' rep J Rocc brings the funk in some style, so thinking about making a night of it.

ELECTRONIC
Dave Harrington

Opium Rooms, Dublin 11pm €10/€8 harringtone.com
The presence of Harrington on the bill is reason for cheer. One half of Darkside with Nicholas Jaar, Harrington as DJ should provide far-side soundtracks from the psych, jazz, techno and groove carousels. The support is equally tasty in the shape of Valentin Stip, the producer whose Sigh album for Jaar's Other People imprint is one of 2014's most lusciously minimal ambient affairs.

HOUSE
Âme

Twisted Pepper, Dublin 10.30pm €15 soundcloud.com/ame
Berlin producers and DJs Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann have been making beautiful music for many years. Co-founders of the righteous Innervisions label, Âme's finely tuned sense of soulful, jazz- friendly, tech-flecked house has stood them in good stead since they came up with a B-side from an Off Limits release back in the day. Between their own cuts and remixes for class acts from Jazzanova to Roy Ayers, you can rely on the pair to always come right. Support from the Bedlam and Mud crews.

ROCK
All Tvvins

McHugh's Belfast 9pm £8 Also Sat, Galway
It's been a while since we've seen a buzz build around a band quite like All Tvvins, especially considering the fact that they've yet to put out a record. But with Lar Kaye and Conor Adams, this band have got more playing chops than most music schools. The past 12 months have seen them land a series of explosive live shows, including a support slot with some crowd called Arcade Fire. The rumour is that the major- label record deal is already in the bag, so grab a chance to see them on the small stage while you can.
