This blatant cashing in on their roles in Father Ted by Joe - "Father Damo" Rooney and Patrick "Eoin McLove" McDonnell makes for a patchy night of comedy. Manic and at times unfocused, Rooney and McDonnell bring us The Poundshop Boys, a long-forgotten 1980s pop duo who sing in most styles from the 1980s including Kungfu Robotic - "Two 1980s fads in one, it can't lose" - while wearing fright wigs and enticing the audience up onto the stage.
This earned itself an extra star with some genuinely clever lyrics (Rooney as a Freddy Mercury lookalike singing "Blood on your face/Big disgrace/Carryin' that crucifix all over the place/He will, he will, save you"), and the black humour of the superbly odd MC, Tom Nicholson.
