Spruced up for PS3 and Xbox 360 users,
Beyond Good & Evil HDwas a hit when first released in 2003, winning awards for its storytelling and gameplay. Sadly, the game is now terribly dated, surpassed by other role-players. As Jade, a futuristic investigative reporter, you must carry out missions to save your planet and uncover a conspiracy. This involves exploration, basic combat), races and puzzles. You're helped along by an anthropomorphised (and annoying) pig named Pey'J. The game's ambition and decent story are admirable, but the graphics and especially gameplay have aged awfully. The movement controls are clunky, there's reams of onscreen text, and the dialogue and voice acting are shamelessly corny. Like many reboots and rereleases,
Beyond Good & Evilis unlikely to win over many new fans.
