Say what you will about their business practices or Google+, but Google makes more than its share of attractive free products. The mobile Google Maps is the beneficiary of a recent update, making this version 2.0. New features include enhanced navigation. It remains far superior to any other map app (especially the one on iPhone). It's easy-to-use, the directions are usually logical and it's comprehensive. Since it's a hub of searchable information and a promo for the search giant, the home screen even has little logos for different kinds of locations, in case you are stuck for a suggestion for say, a restaurant or bar. The app can even access past searches, browser history and favourite places to give recommendations. Locations often have additional information, including user reviews, photo galleries and relevant links. Many of these perks depend on how much you value privacy: Whether you want the map app to know location or browser history is up to you. maps.google.ie
