MY CULTURE NIGHT : LIMERICK: I’ll go to Pery Square for The City Art Trail with The Hall of Mirrors Exhibition in the Limerick City Gallery of Art, then I’ll ramble into the pedestrian friendly area of Catherine Street leading to the exhibitions in the Faber Studio and the Printmakers Studio, before reaching Ormston House which has the The Misadventures of a Good Citizen and the launch of ‘Occupy Paper!’

However much I am tempted by the distant sounds of the choirs in St Mary’s Cathedral, my evening will have to be rounded off at the Hunt Museum where the University Concert Hall present Opera Works and the current exhibition which are fascinating portraits of the characters and sights of the old Milk Market. Then it’s a dash to the Belltable Arts Centre where we have our own exhibition Regia curated by Michele Horrigan and an evening of jazz related events. First, a lecture on the history of jazz from Chas Meredith, then a screening of the vintage film ‘Round Midnight’ before Honor Heffernan and friends take us towards the small hours.

Flash fiction dash

This event runs throughout the night and involves four members of the Limerick Writers’ Centre, Pat O’Connor, Margaret Cahill, Kevin Liston and Fiona Clarke Echlin, reading their work unannounced. Each piece will be three minutes in length and read at venues such as the Hunt Museum, King John’s Castle, and Limerick Printmakers.
