White Trash Beautiful Island Def Jam
If you thought the former House of Pain box-hopper couldn't do worse than Whitey Ford Sings the Blues or Eat at Whiteys (mmm, there's a theme to those titles, isn't there?), wait until you hear White Trash Beautiful, his latest attempt to bring the blues to the hip-hop party. Seldom in the rarefied, clichéd world of simplistic, overcooked, ham-fisted one-trick rock-rap-with-the-blues stuff and nonsense has a man with a guitar, a New York Yankees baseball cap and a bit of stubble sunk so low. Whatever misfortunes the gallery of losers who populate Everlast's tunes have already suffered is nothing compared to what he puts the poor feckers through here. A CD you wouldn't even throw out the window for fear someone might listen to it. www.everlastmusic.com Jim Carroll
