The latest CD releases reviewed

When you are Tim "Timbaland" Mosley, a producer who can turn mediocre tunes into majestic hits, you'll have few problems getting pop superstars to do a turn for your own album. Giving Mosley a digout here are Justin Timberlake, MIA, Nelly Furtado, The Hives, 50 Cent, Dr Dre, Missy Elliott, Fallout Boy, Elton John and The Pussycat Dolls. Seeing as it can cost $500,000 to get Timbaland to work your tune, there's ample encouragement there for his guest vocalists to put on a show in the hope of a hefty discount the next time around. There are some great moments here, with Timberlake on the bouncing Rescue, Fiddy on Come and Get Me and MIA sounding fabulous on Come Around - the pick of the bunch. The less said, though, about opener Oh Timbaland the better; Nina Simone's Sinnerman was never intended to be abused in this manner. www.timbalandmusic.com.
