TIGA Sexor Different/PIAS ***
Tiga's first-ever recording session turned Corey Hart's Sunglasses At Night (as naff a moment as the 1980s produced) into a plugged-in stomper and became an international calling card for the Montreal-based DJ. A string of remixes and collaborations with Mylo, Depeche Mode, Scissor Sisters and others have followed, but the Canadian's real work over the last three years has been spent putting a shape on Sexor. It's a task that began with the stomping Pleasure From the Bass, took in recording sessions in Ghent (with 2 Many DJs) and Stockholm (with Jesper Dahlbäck) and has resulted in a gloriously modern, sleek and streamlined album. Almost every track possesses some kind of oomph factor. A duet with Scissor Sister Jake Shears on the synthy You Gonna Want Me is pristine in execution, while The Ballad of Sexor is both dashing and deep. www.tiga.ca
