Dermot O'Shea got in touch about an Irish Times Reader Offer for a CD cabinet priced at 248.92. He saw the same cabinet for £129.95 (195) in Britain's Woman's Weekly magazine. Why was there a €54 difference? According to the Irish Times marketing department, a built-in €45 delivery charge was the main reason. The Woman's Weekly price was restricted to readers in the UK - and even then delivery to some areas, such as the Channel Islands, would have attracted an additional delivery charge. The Irish Times price also includes euro-sterling conversion charges incurred by the handling supplier in the UK.
