Emer O'Beirne got in touch about big differences in the price of Whole Earth organic Seville orange fruit spread. In Superquinn's Blackrock branch it cost €3.21, but Nature's Way, a health-food store in the same shopping centre, charged just €2.05. Superquinn's purchasing manager says it appears the supermarket is paying too much for its health foods. It has dropped the price of the spread and will now check the prices of other health foods. He adds that Superquinn plans to consider new ways of sourcing the spread, either directly or indirectly.

PriceWatch will be back in September. Until then the August Days pages will focus on holiday consumer issues and prices each Tuesday and Wednesday
