The Film Institute of Ireland presents a series of films this weekend exploring European identity, to coincide with a season of exhibitions at IMMA, under the title The Event Horizon - Programme 2.
Beats Of The Heart by Jeremy Marre, traces the ancient routes of the gypsies from India through the Middle East to Europe (Saturday 3 p.m.). Let Us In by Declan Quinn is a political documentary on traveller life (Saturday 6.30 p.m.), while Joe Comerford's Traveller explores the life of the marginalised protagonist (Saturday 8.40 p.m.)
Atlantean is the now famous documentary by Bob Quinn on the genesis of Ireland's population by successive waves of maritime nomads (Sunday, 3 pm.). Shirin's Wedding explores the life of a young Turkish woman who travels to Germany in search of her fiance (Sunday 6.30 p.m.) while the much acclaimed Time Of The Gypsies by Emir Kusturica gives a fascinating glimpse of gypsy life (Sunday 8.30 p.m.) Information at 01 6795744
