Irish children under the spell of Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a boy whose mam and dad died, so he lived with his aunt Petunia and his uncle Vernon. One day the games keeper came and told Harry Potter he was a wizard and he had to go to a wizard school called Hogwarts. Once I read the first book I couldn't stop. I've already read the first three, so I'm waiting for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to come out now.

These are my favourite books because you never expect what happens next in the story and they're very exciting. The third one is my favourite, because there's a guy in it who nearly dies, but Harry saves him because he's the hero. Ordinary people don't have magic, but Harry is a real wizard.

I started reading them when I was eight, I don't think they're too hard because I could read them to myself and I didn't really need much help.

I've read all the books, but the best is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It's my favourite because it's mysterious and there is adventure in it. I like Harry because he is very brave. He sticks up for himself against bullies and he sticks up for his friends. I might get the new book in my school, but if they take ages I might come here to Ballyfermot library and get it.

I started reading Harry Potter books a few weeks after the first one came out.

I think the first and the second books are very alike but the third one is quite different and it gets more involved. I'm really looking forward to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire coming out. I think it's going to be about a dragon, so that should be good.

I'm 14 and I love Harry Potter books. I think they're for all ages, I've known my parents to read them to my brothers and they enjoy them themselves. Maybe if you were younger than eight you'd find the vocabulary a bit hard, but the story explains what everything is.

I think Harry Potter is so popular because you always want to know what will happen next. Ms Rowling leaves you hanging on the edge at the end of every chapter, so you just have to read on and find out what happens. I'm dying for the new book to come out.

I'm going into fifth class and I'd say that most people in my class like Harry Potter and they're definitely my favourite books. I like all the funny names in the books like "muggles" and "Hogwarts". I like the way that Harry is just an ordinary boy who finds out that he's a wizard. I like that because he deserves it. I think one of my brothers is a bit like Harry because he's going to college and he reads a lot of books.
