It's a big ask to entertain a crowd with original songs when those tunes might not be even known by most of the audience, but there is no task too tough for the charisma and magnetism of Justin Vivian Bond.
With a three-piece band including V's producer Thomas Bartlett on piano, the Spiegeltent becomes what it should be – a dark and magical club with a true star on stage.
The song's introductions deserve the same amount of spotlight, with banter masquerading as folksy actually philosophical.
A master of the art of the tangent, V's stories appear to scatter like starlings before returning to take shape as warm, hilarious and insightful murmurations.
Graciously giving their stage to choreographer Aoife McAtamney for a song, unexpectedly provides one of the memorable moments of the night.
This was an exquisite and oddly comforting performance from an exceptional artist.
