Lounge is now part of the pop music furniture, and no bachelor pad or bachelorette pied a terre is complete without at least one good shot of easy listening in that musical cocktail cabinet you call a hi fi. The latest lounge patterns are brought to you courtesy of Dimitri From Paris, and this ultra cool collection fuses laid back lounge styles with insistent beats, sounding like a trippy, easy listening version of Daft Punk. A tres kitsch prologue delivers the sampled introduction, "Hello, and welcome to the exciting world of hip", before the syncopated vibes of Sacre Franca is start shaking their corduroy slacks all over the floor. With song titles such as Monsieur Dimitri Joue Du Stylophone, Le Moogy Reggae and Cue Very Stylish Fille, you can be sure that Dimitri doesn't take himself too seriously, but he's certainly dedicated to the genre hopping ethic which marks the true aficionado of eclecticism. There's the breathy, Jane Birkinstyle chanson of Nothing To Lose, the dreamy, shampoocommercial hip hop of Reveries, and the all out Funka delicacy of Free Ton Style, not to mention the Orbital style take on the imaginary theme tune, Dirty Larry. So do what the man Dimitri says - free your style, put on your kinky boots, pour yourself a nice dry Martini, and shake your long stem to the cool, easy beats in these very fine French grooves.
