Paz E Futebol is a 20-strong collection of tunes with Brazilian vibes put together by champion German producers and remixers Jazzanova to coincide with next month's World Cup finals. While there's never a shortage of Brazilian compilations to choose from (and certainly not at the moment, with many labels doing their best to cash in on next month's football frenzy by licensing anything with a hint of samba to it), what makes Paz E Futebol such a high-scorer is the track listing. From the rarest of rare nuggets like Amanita's Just Like a Rainbow to the low-slung, funky title track (plucked from Marcos Valle's Garra album), Jazzanova cover all possible soulful, bossa nova and samba bases with aplomb. Even those tracks that didn't originate in Brazil swing really well, especially the glorious ambience of Goddess from the crew's alter-ego Pathless.
