Leading price for paintings of dogs

SOME strong prices were achieved at Morgan O'Driscoll's recent contents sale at Dromderrig House in Kinsale Co Cork

SOME strong prices were achieved at Morgan O'Driscoll's recent contents sale at Dromderrig House in Kinsale Co Cork. The top price of £4,000 was paid for a pair of oil paintings of gun dogs, by R. Clements; a pair of William IV rosewood foldover card tables made £2,800; a set of 12 dining chairs from the same period sold for £2,700; a pair of 19th century French 3ft beds fetched £2,250; an early Victorian walnut davenport sold for £2,000; and a Chippendale style carved giltwood mirror made £2,000.

Among the less expensive items an oak Welsh dresser fetched £725; a Victorian 4ft mahogany canopy bed achieved £800 and a William IV cleval mirror sold for £590.

Morgan O Driscoll's next sale will be at the Old Railway Station in Skibereen on April 6th.
