A RARE collection of primary school teaching books, dating from the late 19th and early 20th century, are to be presented to the new library of Mary Immaculate College in Limerick next Thursday. The collection of some 280 books, covering the period 1880-1920, was assembled by James Stack, headmaster of Brosna school in Co Kerry. On his death in 1942, he left the books to his daughter, who cared for the collection until her own death two ears ago.

They were subsequently acquired by Tralee antiques dealer, Maurice O Keeffe, who will be presenting the books to the Limerick college on Thursday afternoon.
