Jeff McIllwain is Lusine, a man whose brand of complex, abstract electronic pop has won him many admirers over the past few years. The Texan, now living in Seattle, began his relationship with the Ghostly International label back in 2005 with Serial Hodgepodge. His latest album, A Certain Distance, is a good place to catch the Lusine wave, as it pulls in downtempo, ambient, house and techno to accentuate his catchy pop sound.

Apart from his releases for Ghostly and other electronic labels (Mute, Kompakt, !K7), McIllwain has also caught some soundtrack action by producing scores for indie films Snow Angelsand Linewatch. He will bring a relatively new live show to Lowerstate, one which has already met with approval from the technnorati at both Barcelona's Sonar and Detroit's DEMF festivals. Support is from Lowerstate's Ruairi.
