AN auction to be held at Drum's of Malahide on Thursday evening includes the part contents of a house in Baily, Howth, as well as furniture and fine art from a number of other private sources. Denis Drum is particularly impressed with a very substantial (9ft long) William IV scroll back Honduras mahogany bench seat, possibly Irish and with an estimate of £1,500-£2,500.

Also included in the sale is an Edwardian mahogany sideboard, six-and-a-half feet in length and which carries an estimate of £700-£1,000, as does a six-branch Waterford glass chandelier. A three-tier brush-side Victorian mahogany dumb waiter is expected to make £600-£800 and a serpentine rosewood chiffonier £600-£900. The latter figure is also the estimate for a three-door credenza-style walnut veneer cabinet, while a 70-piece Wedgewood dinner service should go for £300-£500.
