Anyone interested in yet another underrated Canadian songsmith? You'd be advised to say yes to this one, as Royal Wood (above) is a perfect example of under-the- radar (over here, at any rate) brilliance. The handsome chap launches his latest album, The Burning Bright, with a mere two Irish gigs. See album review, page 12. TCL

Gett, The Trial of Viviane Amsalem @ Films from the Southern Mediterranean
Triskel Arts Centre, Cork 8.15

Compelling courtroom action as Viviane (Ronit Elkabetz, superb) seeks a gett, a divorce document, obtainable in Israel only by going through religious courts. Cue five years of stonewalling and mudslinging as Viviane faces down her estranged husband, three rabbinical judges and a comically unfair system. Ronit Elkabetz and Shlomi Elkabetz direct this cannily written, acerbic Israeli drama. TB
