Production began this week on Outcast, a supernatural thriller directed by Colm McCarthy, who wrote it with John McCarthy.

Featuring James Nesbitt, Kate Dickie, Hannah Stansbridge and Niall Bruton, Outcastdeals with a Scottish Romany girl and her enigmatic Irish Traveller boyfriend, living on an Edinburgh council estate, and their stalking by a lethal beast. Produced by Fantastic Films with funding from the Irish Film Board and Scottish Screen, Outcastis shooting in Scotland and at Solas Studios in Galway. It's the first feature for McCarthy, who directed episodes of TV series Spooks, The Tudorsand Murphy's Law.
