A special event will be held in Dublin's Andrew's Lane Theatre on Wednesday, June 24th, to celebrate the release of a new edition of Jeff Buckley's Gracealbum. The album was the only studio album that the musician recorded before his death in 1997, and has been released in various mutations over the past decade.
The new package, Grace Around the Worldis a combination of live versions of tracks from the album and a DVD entitled Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckleyabout the singer. It commemorates the 15th anniversary of its original August 1994 release. The award-winning documentary includes interviews with Buckley's band members and fans, as well as home-recorded videos and footage of the singer performing.
The Dublin event will host a screening of the hour-long documentary, and will be attended by Buckley’s mother Mary Guibert, who will participate in a question-and-answer session afterwards. Musician Dave McGuinness, who performed at the first Irish Jeff Buckley Tribute Night in 1997, will also perform a short set.
Tickets are €8/€5 and available from the WaV box office (1890-200078) or at the door. All proceeds from the night will be donated to the Niall Mellon Township Trust, the charity that works to build homes in South Africa for impoverished locals.
