MUSIC NEWS: A brand new arts festival that incorporates music, theatre and comedy will launch next month – 10 Days in Dublin, which takes place from July 7th to 17th, is the brainchild of Robert Kearns and Dan Bergin.

Crucially, there was no jury or selection process involved in the festival's curation – every act that applied to play has been slotted in. The project has been funded solely by Kearns and Bergin.

"We wanted to see acts who could fill rooms of 200-500 people playing in the same festival as new acts who might play to 50 people," said Kearns. "We wanted to create a festival which Dubliners could feel was for them – that there was something for everyone, and anyone could take part."

The programme includes quirky acts such as the Trinity Orchestra performing Daft Punk's Discovery, video game soundtracking band The Buzz Aldrin Allstars, and a special Bastille Day-themed performance by The Pandora Music Agency. Also, former Alphastates frontwoman Cat Dowling will play her first solo gig. Every show costs less than €10 to attend. 10daysindublin.ie
