TRACK OF THE WEEK
Steal My Girl – One Direction
Although this track starts off so middle of the road that it’s basically an unbroken white line, Steal My Girl manages to steal the show. With a rousing chorus and universally applicable lyrics, this could be One Direction’s Never Forget. (Younger readers, ask your older pals!)
Which leads us to ask: which one will do a Robbie? Not Louis Tomlinson (above) who told J-14 magazine: “We’re like brothers really. The best part about being in a band is just having each other, to be honest. I personally don’t think I could do it as a solo artist. It would be intense and hard to comprehend. It’s good to be able to speak to people who know exactly where you are personally.”
HERO OF THE WEEK
Music itself for helping Calum Hood of 5 Seconds of Summer see the light. In their new book, he writes: “The love of rock and punk music brought Michael, Luke, Ashton and me together when we were at school, but when I was younger my life could have gone one of two ways. I really loved football and I wanted to become professional. My favourite team was Liverpool and I dreamt of walking alongside their captain, Steven Gerrard. But as soon as I discovered music, I knew it was the only thing I wanted to do.”
ZERO OF THE WEEK
Taylor Swift’s label boss who asked her to put two country songs on her new album 1989. Taylor told the Sun: “I had to convince my Nashville record label president it was right for me. I presented the album to him and he said, ‘It’s great, it’s the best thing you’ve ever done, but can you put two country songs on it?’” But she refused. “He’s happy as a clown now,” she added.
